Best Places for Sledding in Port Jefferson Area
Once the snow storm has subsided its time to gear up for the best part of a snow day, SLEDDING! Finding the right spot doesn’t have to be hard it just needs to have the right conditions. A good hill, easy access and a nice amount of snow fall. Here are my top three spots to go sledding in the Port Jefferson Area.
“The Bowl” at Port Jefferson High School
Pull right into the high schools drive and you will find the large “bowl” out in front of the school. While it can get crowded here its not too bad and lots of space for everyone to enjoy. Plenty are parking can be found here too once it has been plowed.
“The Wedge” at Haritage Park in Mt. Sinai
The wedge has a lot of space to sled with how it is set up and because you can use both sides of the “wedge” to sled down. It gets absolutely packed here and can be over run with too many people during peek hours. If you want to avoid a crowd try to go later in the day or opt for night sledding.
St. Georges Golf Course in Setauket
One of the most popular spots with the least amount of parking, usually people will park on Sheep Pasture and climb over the fence. This is a good place to avoid a crowd though with the available amount of hills and sledding spots on the vast property.
